How iPhone and Apple Watch sync membership and data

MoodyWatch automatically syncs key information between iPhone and Apple Watch, including:

  • Membership status
  • HRV and related health data
  • Personalization settings and related sync data

In most cases this happens in the background. If the two sides disagree, you can trigger a manual sync from the watch.

Manual sync entry points

Open MoodyWatch on both iPhone and Apple Watch and keep them on screen. On Apple Watch, open:

  • Top-left Settings → Restore Purchases → Sync Membership — syncs membership status
  • Top-left Settings → Sync Personalization — syncs HRV data, personalization, and related cross-device data

If manual sync still doesn't align things, check in the order below.

1. Check that app versions match

Sync requires the iPhone and Apple Watch versions of MoodyWatch to match. Mismatched versions can cause membership, HRV, or settings to go out of sync.

How to check

  • iPhone: Settings → About → About MoodyWatch
  • Watch: Top-left Settings → scroll to the bottom

If they don't match

Get them on the same version first:

  • Wait for automatic update over Wi-Fi
  • Or update the watch version manually from the Watch app on iPhone

2. Check that sync conditions are met

For sync to work, try to have all of these true at once:

  • MoodyWatch is open on both iPhone and Apple Watch
  • No special modes are on: Low Power, Sleep, Do Not Disturb, Theater, Focus
  • Background App Refresh is on in all three places:
    • iPhone Settings → General → Background App Refresh (master on, MoodyWatch on)
    • iPhone Settings → MoodyWatch → Background Data Refresh (on)
    • Apple Watch Settings → General → Background App Refresh (master on, MoodyWatch on)

If any one of those is off, sync can break.

3. Apple Watch system cache

Sometimes the watchOS cache interferes with sync, leaving membership, HRV, or settings stale.

What to try

  • Restart Apple Watch
  • After restart, go back to Settings → Restore Purchases → Sync Membership or Settings → Sync Personalization
  • Trigger sync again manually

Many sync issues clear up after a restart.

4. Check whether iPhone and Apple Watch are disconnected

Sync depends on normal communication between iPhone and Apple Watch. A poor connection can leave membership and HRV unsynced.

How to check

  • Bluetooth on iPhone is on
  • Apple Watch is connected normally to iPhone
  • The Watch app on iPhone shows the device as connected
  • Recent heart rate data exists in the iPhone Health app

If health data hasn't updated for a long time, the watch and phone may actually be disconnected.

If they've disconnected

Try restarting iPhone and Apple Watch → recheck connection → re-pair if needed.

5. Unstable connection

Even without a full disconnect, an unstable network or Bluetooth can cause sync to fail, lag, or temporarily disagree.

What to try

  • Sync on a stable Wi-Fi network
  • Keep iPhone and Apple Watch close together
  • Restart both devices and try again if needed
  • If the issue is recurring, consider re-pairing

6. About HRV sync specifically

HRV itself is collected by Apple Watch and the system Health framework. When the two sides disagree, it doesn't necessarily mean the reading is wrong — it can just be sync lag. If you see:

  • New HRV data on the phone but not on the watch
  • Watch state and phone analysis don't match

Tap Top-left Settings → Sync Personalization on the watch to let it pull personalization and analysis again.

If none of the above works, email moodywatch@stressrobot.com or reach WeCom support with:

  • iOS version
  • watchOS version
  • Screenshots of the relevant pages on iPhone
  • Screenshots of the relevant pages on Apple Watch

For a membership issue, include membership page screenshots from both sides. For an HRV or sync issue, include data page screenshots from both sides. We'll use these to help you track down the cause.
